If you are like me, maybe you have been wanting to set up a website using blogdown, GitHub and Netlify. While there are other combinations of packages, repositories and hosts that can accomplish the same thing, I am an R enthusiast. Thus, I narrowed my focus to this particular solution.

R experts Yihui Xie, Amber Thomas, Alison Presmanes Hill worked on blogdown and its guide. Yihui is the primary author of the package while Amber and Alison have provided valuable expertise in completing its documentation.

However, The R package blogdown and its guide presented me with some unexpected challenges. Every time I started I would hit a technical issue that halted all progress. Eventually I spent several hours just on this one project and had a modicum of success.

As a result, I’d like to help others get off to a smoother start using R blogdown to set up their own websites in 2023. As Jackie Gleason would say, “And awaaay we go…”
