What are classification models that we can build that are actually fun?

Are there some beyond Titanic survivors?

The pleasant answer is yes.

It makes sense to depart a little bit from the norm. This is because it is something you can place in your portfolio that showcases your particular skills and sensibility for specific clients. If I work in construction I want my data guy to show me models that have some pertinence to projects, materials and engineering. It also keeps things interesting if you feel like you are starting to understand some basic models really, really well.

Where could you find such off-the-beaten path models? Or at least ones that better reflect your prospective client’s expertise or industry.

  1. Kaggle. This may seem like where everyone goes, but we all probably don’t use it enough for ideas. There are so many one-of-a-kind projects and notebooks and all are easily searchable by keywords.
  2. GitHub. I aspire to have a GitHub page that looks like Chanin Nantasenamat’s page. His site is not a bad place to start, but the fact is you can also easily search by keywords throughout all of the site. It is the premier place to post your…
